Triathlon Team Rio Tinto
One of the Rio Tinto Teams on the dayAs the sun rose over Langley Park in Perth on Sunday March 9, 93 Rio Tinto employees were among a crowd of 2000 competitors gathered for the BRW Triathlon.
The Rio Tinto contingent came from all corners of Western Australia and formed 31 teams. Competitors either swam 400 metres in the Swan River, cycled 10 kilometres or ran 4 kilometres. Some high-achievers managed to do all three on their own.
Mike Haerderle’s mixed team from Exploration and Expansion Projects was the highest placed Rio Tinto team - finishing in third place overall.
“It’s always a lot of fun competing…you’re in it for your team,” said Mike.
“I am very grateful to Rio Tinto and all those individuals involved in making the event accessible to me.”
