A twelve-month pilot study for the service was to conclude in June, however this period has been extended to the end of 2008 to provide an accurate picture of the demand for the service.

Manager Towns and Partnerships Janette Tuttle said having out-of-school-hours care was a real advantage for the Paraburdoo community.

“This service allows Paraburdoo parents the opportunity to be more flexible with their time and take an often much needed break, while having the assurance that qualified childcare staff are looking after their children,” Janette said.

“The children are able to participate in a range of fun activities including art and craft and excursions to Tom Price,” she said.

Rio Tinto is providing $37,000 to maintain its out-of-school-hours service.
