A new TransPilbaraWest community bus service is now running on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Its route takes in a circuit of Pilbara coastal towns including Dampier, Karratha, Roebourne and Wickham.
The service caters to many residents with different needs including school children, contractors without their own cars, young people travelling to employment, families and others who use Karratha as a central hub for retail, banking and health services.
"This services enables me - and I hope many more like me - to get from Point Samson to Karratha when banks, the post office etc are open during the week," wrote Eleanor Cronin in a thank you note to the Shire of Roebourne.
This is an extension of the weekend bus service that is supported by Rio Tinto, the Shire of Roebourne, and the Public Transport Authority.
