The Rio Tinto WA Future Fund was set up in 2001 to enhance community investment activities of various Rio Tinto business in Western Australia. Its objective is a stronger and more sustainable Western Australian community.

The Future Fund concentrates on a small number of large, state-wide partnerships. It focuses on four priority areas -the environment, health, education, and culture.

Since it was established, the Future Fund has entered into 34 partnership agreements with a range of Western Australian organisations.

The $12 million committed by the Fund during this time has been leveraged into more than $32 million worth of community projects.
