Argyle Diamonds is the only Rio Tinto business unit located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia’s far north.

It is situated in the East Kimberley with Kununurra being the closest town - a two hour drive away.

Argyle operates a successful localisation policy which has increased the proportion of local Aboriginal employees to 24% of the total workforce, or around 800 people.

The business unit also has an office in Kununurra where employees are tasked with supporting the relocation of the bulk of the workforce to the Kimberley region and working with local stakeholders.
