A Walk on the Wild Side
09 May 2008
The walk was a great day out for pets of all sizes
In keeping with the day's theme of 'diversity', dogs weren't the only pets taking part in the walk - there were ferrets, horses, camels, kittens, rats (on leads) and the RSPCA's very own Geep, a sheep with the head of a goat, who behaves like a dog!
The walk was Rio Tinto’s second Choose your own Charity event for 2008 and attracted the greatest level of participation so far, with nearly 300 employees, their families and 'best friends' turning up.
A total of $10,000 was donated to the RSPCA by Rio Tinto employees' fundraising efforts and matched funding from the business.
RSPCA's Richard Barry says he'd like to thank employees for their contribution as the largest corporate team and highest fundraiser in WA.
"It's great to see the company support employees' fundraising efforts and a cause that's personally important to their people."
