Colours of
our Country
A Pilbara story book
Rio Tinto welcomes the Perth community to view an exquisite display of Aboriginal art from
Western Australia's Pilbara region.
The Colours of our Country exhibition brings together a collection of 140 paintings, textiles and artifacts from 41 Pilbara based artists.
The works on display tell a range of ancestral stories of the land and explore the artists' individual life experiences and beliefs.
At Rio Tinto we work collaboratively with our neighbours that surround our operations. This ensures we remain on the path to creating strong and sustainable communities.
Colours of our Country is an example of this, with all profits received from the exhibition returning directly to artists and their art groups.
This year's exhibition profiles works from a range of established and emerging Pilbara artists. Some of the familiar names include: Clifton Mack, Marine James, Wendy Darby, Pansy Hicks, Justina Willis, Wendy Warrie, Jill Churnside, Pansy Sambo, Joanna Willis, Melissa Sandy, Allery Sandy and
Loreen Samson.
